Actually the "lower" gear ratios are not all bad ... the only real place you
might be frustrated is getting that thing off the line with the automatic
.... but once moving, you can stay in the same gear longer at the top end
, might make blending into the on ramp just a bit better ... whereas with
the 3.55 you might be about done at 50 mph, you could probably keep it in
1st coming out of the shute until near 60 ... a big deal in some rude driver
areas ... just a little sweet summer lemonade ... oh, did we mention $2.00
a gallon fuel considerations ... ?

Even with my stocker 110 4 speed with 3.55, I wish I had a 3.08 .. most boy
racer stuff is done in 2nd and 3rd, and many times I wish I could keep it in
2nd just a tad longer ... or passing an 18 wheeler on a 2 lane, 85 mph would
be nice in 3rd. I figger I can't actually outdrag anybody in low gear
anyway, and high gear is definitely pretty soggy with a 110 hp rig... well,
maybe a 5.90 rear end if I stayed within a block of my driveway.

just some thoughts, ken campbell, ioway.
