I rebuilt the carbs (first time) on my wife's 67 Monza 110 HPand noticed it
had #49 jets. I looked it up in a chevy parts manual and it said #49 was
standard issue for 67 to 68.
My 66 (110 HP) has #51's and runs great but will ping a bit if I dont watch
my advance...usually about 14 degrees.
This 67 seems to run very well at 18 degrees and never has a hint of ping.
Shifts smooth idles well, sounds healthy and gets good mileage. I would guess
my only advantage in this case would be perhaps more power on the upper end. I
guess I'm the "if it aint broke dont fix it" type. Can anyone present a case
for changing the jets or for not? I would be happy to hear any responses.
