My son bought one of those ceramic heaters when he had his '61 Corvair.  It
was pretty much worthless.  However, they used to make a really neat 12v
"hair dryer" type heater.  I had one of these when I was in college and it
was wonderful for quickly clearing the ice and fog from my '65 Corvair's
windshield.
