<VV> Brake material thickness

How thick should the brake pads be?

I have to push the peddle harder to make the car start to stop.  Not
unsafe feeling, but figured it is a good time to check things out.  Other
than that it seems fine.  Bleed the fluid every year before it hits the
road.  Hoses/hardware are about 6 seasons old.

Can not remember if I changed the pads then also.  If I did they have
about 12K on them.

Brakes smoothly and straitly.  Just doesn't feel right...if you know what
I mean.

The drums are smooth.
