No wonder you are confused. Corvairs don't have "REAR" windshields, only
a car known as dual cowel phaeton has a REAR windshield. Think
Deusenberg. Many of the parts of a car are named so as to describe their
purpose. In the case of the "windshield" it does exactly that, shields
you from the wind as you are traveling down the road.

For the record, the big piece of glass behind the passengers is called a
BACKLITE (or backlight).
