If you have a 1964 shop manual supplement, there is an interesting thing I
noticed. On page 8-26 which is the rear electrical diagram for the corvair,
up in the upper left corner we can clearly see three engine temperature
switches. The one labelled "600 only" is NOT the thermister for the
temperature gauge on a spyder. THAT sensor is located at the bottom of the
page next to the battery and is labelled "(600 only)head temp sending
unit". 600 is chevy's term for the spyder series (like the 500, 700, and
900 or monza) Anyway, next to that, why are there two "snap" switches
connected in parallel with each other and what is the one labelled "600
only" for? i'm very certain that only one is needed to run the temperature
idiot light and buzzer. Is this a misprint, a backup in case the other(s)
fail (remember, the turbos can get pretty hot under there...) or is there
another reason for it? Just curious.
