 I had a similar problem a few years ago. After
racking my brain for weeks, I finally noticed the
gaskets for the main well insert was cut incorrectly
and the main idle circuit was partially, if not mostly
blocked.

I have had a couple different gaskets that I have used.  Maybe you could be
more specific as to what was blocked in your case?

 Norm - 54's seem like a lot of fuel for a stock
motor. Have you thought about going to 52's or 51's?
My very stock 140 in the vert runs very nice on 52's.

I went from the 54s to the 51s.


The last suggestion I have to offer, is to swap the
primaries off of your Orchid '65 Monza vert and see
what the motor does. One of the many benefits of
having many.


Unfortunately that car is sold and the buyer picks it up Saturday.  I'd
rather not mess with someone else's car.
