The Corvair ran 10 years. The Citation ran 6 years and my '82 was a great four cylinder, four door hatchback with a stick. I sold it when I purchased an '88 Nova.

My '76 Nova ran 11 years and finally quit. I own a '57 Belair 4 door wagon with 112k on it and a '64 Monza Convertible with 104k on it. Both run well and I could drive them anywhere across this country.

My brother's '73 Vega GT Kammback wagon coasted into the dealership as a trade in in '76. My '66 Falcon needed new rings, valves and leaf springs at 51,000 miles and nine years old.

My point is that engineering combined with care and maintenance are important to a car too. Reputation scares away the timid who do not look at reality. Our media people build up people and products and then just as quickly knock them down, whether justified or not. I wish Chevrolet would build cars that had mechanical reliability and product design today. It remains to be seen if their American Revolution will yield a car worth driving and collecting.

If Ralph Nader campaigns in Topeka this fall I will gladly drive him around in my '64 Monza convertible.
