<VV> Early vs. Late turbos

Not trying to fan any flames over the early vs. late wars, but the early
turbos used a smaller turbine and compressor. As a consequence, it will
spool up more quickly and particularly with the smaller displacement engine
give (some) boost in the lower gears.

On the other hand, the late turbo flows more. It doesn't necessarily
produce more boost but is a good match to the 164 cu in engine.

Find me at the Lexington convention -- I'm bringing some data plots from
some instrumented runs I made on my '66 Corsa turbo. I instrumented the
engine to read out and record manifold pressure, air/fuel ratio, throttle
position, and RPM. I do get some boost in first -- just barely, but some
-- and then come on fairly strongly in the upper three gears. Peak boost
is ~10.5 to 11 psi.

This is on basically a stock engine -- Carter YH, stock turbo, 0.040
overbore, stock cam, etc. The data plots are interesting and informative.
