<VV> Electronic ignition question

Hi Folks--

You may (or may not) remember that I have a 63 Spyder with
starting/flooding problems. I've been working through the many
suggestions you gave me to solve the problem. So far, they continue,
but I still have some things to try.

One of the things I HAVE done is to get a correct Spyder distributor and
installed it. I transferred the electronic ignition from the old
distributor to the new distributor. It's a Petronix Ignitor II with a
Flamethrower II coil. After installing the long-awaited new distributor,
the flooding problem did not improve. The car started immediately, but
it ran rough and rich as it had before and wouldn't idle. I tried
retiming it again (not running) and made a slight adjustment and now it
doesn't want to start at all. (Aren't I good :-).

Of course, the timing adjustment may have been wrong, but here's the
question. Does the electronic ignition need to somehow be "reset" or
"adjusted" in some way with a change in timing or does that happen
automatically as a result of the changes? Do I need to disconnect the
e-ignition every time I adjust timing in order to "reset" it or something?

I know, as one of you already told me, I need to get some on site help
from someone who knows what they're doing and be done with it. But this
is still a rewarding learning experience for me (at 56 what else is
there to do that could possibly be any better...don't answer that :-).

I'm not quite frustrated enough yet to surrender...but I'm close.

Thanks,

Jonathan
