Tony and all.
This is still a legit way to decarbonize an engine, but I never liked the
possible consequences if you pour down too much water too fast. I would
personally find it difficult to keep a pencil lead thickness of water
running at the proper flow level in a Coke bottle, or anything else for that
matter.

Why not just get a bottle of Seafoam, run it into the engine via the pcv
vacuum hose, or just drizzle it down the carbs, then dump some in each carb
to make the engine cut off. Then fire the engine back up and she should
smoke like a freight train for about 30 minutes. Problem solved. (Use one
half can for the engine, dump the other end in the gas tank). Also try
Seafoam Trans Tune to loosen up sticking valve bodies, etc. It can make one
heck of a difference. Since it is a petroleum product you don't have to
worry about overfilling the trans. It will do its job in evaporate out in a
couple-3 days.

(Seafoam may not be available at your "Favorite Local Auto Parts Store "
Also known as FLAPS. NAPA does carry it)

Matt should check his compression before and after to see if the job got
done right. BTW, You can do the same thing with GM Goodwrench Top End
Cleaner, either in pour bottle or Spray Can, available from your local
General Motors Purveyor. Compression readings can be quite high with
carbonization in the engine. One I bought from a Clubbie in VA Beach ran
190-220 lbs per cylinder before, normal 120-140 after treatment.

Shoot, a Corvair message sent to the correct list...Might be hope after all.
