<VV> Fan belt problems

I had a vair that threw every belt.  My now gone 69 vert.  110/4.  I cleaned
the pulleys up, then heard that if the fan or idler could be spun like
roller skate wheels, they were dry and would "hang-up" on occasion.
Replaced both bearings.  Never threw another belt.

My 67 4 dr ate several too when I first got it.  Same fix applied.  Put a
wrapped Bando belt that I think came from Larry's Corvair via our club parts
person.  That was 3 years ago and it's still on there, driven daily for
nearly 30k miles.  I put one on the a/c compressor too.  That way I have a
spare, just in case it ever decides to fail.
