There is no sending unit that could leak that bolts to the head.  The only 
one the head is the temp gauge sender.  If it is from near the head it is 
either the valve cover gasket or pushrod tube seals.  Try replacing the 
valve cover gasket.  Depending on what type it is I have  had almost new 
ones leak,  easy enough to replace and I would bet that is it with a leak 
that rapid.
