<VV> trailer choices

I personally would NOT go with a single axle trailer for anything except
a VERY small utility trailer. A tandem pulls so much straighter (as long
as it's built properly) and has much more safety WHEN you have a tire
problem. This is even more important when using a minimal tow vehicle. I
currently tow with a 1500 Savana conversion van (7200#) or a K2500
pickup (both have a 350 engine) with a all steel homade trailer (I did
not make it) with brakes on both axles (about 4000# with the car and
spares on it) and can hardly believe I used to pull the same trailer
with a S-15 4wd pickup with a 2.8L V-6. I have lost tires or bearings
more than once in the 18 years I've had this trailer and been able to
limp to the nearest exit by just removing the offending wheel and tying
the axle up. The main thing is to get a trailer which you can pull the
Corvair forward far enough to get 10% of the total weight on the tongue
of the trailer with the car facing forward.
