Richard,
When I was driving my 180 regularly, my uncalibrated CHT normally read
400 deg.F. when cruising on the highway. Under full load going up loooooong
hills, it would climb to 450 deg.F. These gauges, after 40 years, can read
almost anywhere. The important thing is that it reads consistently the same under
the same load conditions, as mine has. It should also show a temp rise under
full load for some minutes compared to simply cruising on the open highway
under light load.

Manifold gauge is there for entertainment purposes only.
