<VV> What to do...small projects.

Ryan, some ideas:

1) Take the instrument panel out. Disassemble and clean all of the
instrument faces and lenses. Replace any dead bulbs. Consider using modern,
brighter replacement bulbs. Ensure ground straps are in good condition--not
bent, broken, or rusty.

2) Recover the dash speaker with black "cloth" so that when you look down
through the windshield you see a nice smooth surface.

3) Related to #2, replace worn, broken, or missing defroster duct cardboard
ends. These cover the parts of the L and R metal grille openings in the dash
not occupied by the plastic duct ends. Some people think these improve the
dispersion of the defroster air but I'm pretty sure they were for looks only
(when looking down through the windshield).

4) Restore/repaint crinkle finish on the instrument panel housing, glove box
surround, and glove box door.

5) Restore/replace as needed the Corsa shifter base cover and metal brackets
which holds it in place. Brackets are often rusty. Underside and bottom edge
of cover is often corroded.

6) Recondition/clean seat belts.

7) Remove, disassemble, and clean headlight assemblies. Lots of junk in
there often and springs/bolts/etc. are often rusty.

8) Remove and clean lenses and replace bulbs in tail/stop light and backup
light assemblies. Consider using modern, brighter replacement bulbs.

That should keep you busy!

Subject: <VV> What to do...small projects.

I have some parts, no money, and I want to do some work on my Corvair.
Something i can do in the house, preferably, given that it is, like say, at
this moment 10 degrees out there. We DO have a basement that I can do
*somewhat* dirtier work in...

So, what I'm asking for from you guys is this: Are there any small projects
I could be working on since my car is pretty much all packed up and parked
for the winter? I'm open to any suggestions.

Oh, and just as a side note, has anyone else ever had
the problem where, when you go to re-attach
the lower strut rods to the diff case, the L-bracket doesn't really go flat
to both sides? My car sat for many years with both side the top two bolts
not in them, and they're bent now. Is this something common?

Happy Holidayz Everyone! it *is* that time of year!
