I'm 63 and a CORSA member since 1973. Bought my first Corvair in 1962 and
have had them in one form or another ever since.
Drove them on the street, drag raced them at the tracks, built dune buggies
out of their parts. I'm currently building a fiberglass bodied dune buggy
strictly for the 1/4 mile drags. It will have a 140HP engine with a
turbocharger and Powerglide. Want to beat Billy Bruce and Ken Arnold at
their own game! Very disappointed there will be no drags at Portland this
year. Rest assured there will be drags at our 2007 convention in the
Detroit Area. Lapeer Dragway is only 40 minutes from the convention site
and they run every Saturday and Sunday.
I have on good authority that Charlie Dye doesn't have any Corvair parts.
He just knows where to get them when you order something. Why anyone in
this day and age of computers and cell phones would send a letter to a guy
asking if he has parts is beyond me. I order online from Clark's Corvair
Parts and the parts arrive 1-2 days later. My letter wouldn't even get to
Crazy Charlie in two days!
