I've also had no problems with the DOT 5 I put in years ago.  I've
never raced the car but it's had plenty of interstate and backroad
driving time.  I wasn't even particularly careful about flushing the
brake lines.  I did replace the rubber brake hoses, rebuilt or
replaced all the wheel cylinders and the master cylinder.  Over the
course of several years, I've replaced all the steel lines and each
time, I had no problem bleeding the brakes and the pedal has always
been firm.  Guess I've just been lucky.
