May I suggest that the answer to this is contained in your replies to these 
questions.

1) How much R12 do you have in your stash? None? Then go for R134a.  A dozen 
cans, go for R12.

2) how much R12 will be leaking out of your system in a year? None? Then go 
for R12. One can, R12 OK, more than 1 can, go for R134a.
