Padget,

The Tow Bar that I bought had two plates that came with it (removable from the tow bar with a large pin and clip on each side. (I leave the plates on the car and remove the tow bar via the pins while racing the car.) Also, the tow bar was adjustable for width. Mine is spread nearly as far as it will go which aligned the existing holes in the car (actually one above the other) as the innermost usable holes. I then drilled two additional holes outboard of these holes to align with the holes in the plates that came on the tow bar. It was necessary to remove the two covers that cover the parking lights up front to put the nuts onto the bolts. When I remove the tow bar I put A/C duct tape (silver metallic stuff) over the holes that I drilled and put the two covers back on. With the covers on, the tape is not visible from inside of the trunk, and not visible on the outside because it is behind the bumper. (Also keeps water from getting in). When mounting the tow bar I use some 1/4" thick rubber pieces that I came up with somewhere between the tow bar bracket and the sheet metal of the car. Doesn't even scratch it up.

Note to Padget. If you are thinking of doing this when you find the car you want, maybe you should just come and borrow mine, and take a drill with you to drill the two holes in the car you will be picking up. You could possibly pull it with just two bolts in the existing holes, but it would not be as solid as with four bolts. I also have lights to go on the rear of the car (magnetic) to avoid all the wiring hassle. Just plug into trailer light connector (4 contact type) on the tow vehicle. Heck...I might even bring it to you at one of the meetings (CFCC) if the timing is right. It ain't like I wear it out with use.
