Another thing in Oregon that may surprise some (although some other states are 
similar) is all the liquor stores are strictly state run.  There aren't many of 
them and their hours are from 9am to 7pm, with most closed on Sunday.  You can 
get beer and wine in markets and 7-11s.

FYI:  Within walking distance of the host hotel is a Safeway market, the usual 
fast-food joints, and a large shopping mall.
