Thank you everyone for the emails with advice. As luck would have it there
was a club member who lived in town here who helped me out. And all turned
out well in the end.

 

Bottom line the sound was the lifters. Being a rookie, I just assumed the
worst. And with the convention starting I figured uncle Murphy was visiting
me. There is much more to this saga than the lifters (Corvair gremlins). If
you want the story just stop me at the convention and ask.  

 

See you at the convention! The car will be in the show on Wednesday. Look
for the Oregon Tech window decal in a Red 65 coupe. I look forward to
