i would put the top cup on the jacket you have for the later signal switch. i 
cut one once and brazed the later top on to get the later switch assembly on 
my 63 rampy. i used a muffler pipe cutter. looks good, seam is out of site 
under the neck of the cup. to get that off without making a mess out of it is not 
easy, i did one on a 62 vette once(same type but longer). pipe jaws in a vise 
did it finally with heat.today i would not do it..
