The mantra is never use new lifters or camshaft on used mating surfaces. 
BUT....
Now, why are you replacing the lifter? Noisy? Corvair lifters have a 
tendency to clatter til filled more than other cars, but they usually shut 
up within a few miles.
If the lifter(s) are varnished up, some chemical additive may help. Key word 
here is 'may'.
But if you REALLY want to replace the lifter(s) without taking out 
(replacing) the cam, be my guest. Whatdaya got to loose? the cam? The 
lifter? You'll have to split the case anyway. Maybe you'll get lucky, and 
everything will be fine.
