Excuse me if this has been mentioned before. I didn't see it if it was.
The last two issues of Hemmings Classic Car (December and January) have had
a short article on the last Corvair. December's pertained to a Corvair in
the Art Astor collection, in Anaheim, CA, and was being advertised as the
last Corvair. In January's article, David Newell, sets the record straight.
That was the first I had heard of a body being built after 6000, but never
got a VIN or running gear and is supposed to sit in a museum in TX. Has
anyone seen this?
December's issue also had an article on the 1967 Chevy Astro I, which was
Corvair based and was supposed to have a 240 HP OHC Corvair engine in it.
David Newell and Larry Claypool are mentioned in this article.
Hemmings Classic Car has always been very favorable in their articles on the
Corvair.
