That's assuming gasohol is stored properly at the distribution points and  
the stations. Otherwise, it'll pick up water and if you add just a bit more,  
you'll get phase separation. With the water/ethanol on the bottom...

Here in  CT seems like most if not all the gas already has ethanol in it.   So
maybe Dry Gas is normally unnecessary.   Maybe if your car is  unused for
long periods with little gas and subject to wide temperature  swings.  Then
the gas is likely to go sour anyway unless treated with  and antioxidant or
drained out.
