i really doubt it is the tranny, without being there i would really bet heavy 
on the differential.  that seal is buried under the nose cone between it and 
the bearing. you also need a new o ring on the nose cone. if the pinion 
bearing is worn enough to move around that would also cause early seal 
failure.(kinda rare but) see diagram in shop manual or parts breakdown in our east coast 
vendors book(lons also   ok?) the kits include everything you need except the 
tools... i ended up doing several just the last few years..must be the car 
ageing process is catching up..
