If you figure it out, let us know.  I've been installing them for  at least 
25 years now and have tried chamfering the hole as much as possible  then lube 
it and the "O"  with STP and press it together very slowly.   Seems to work 
but once together it is impossible to check without disassembling  it.  Which is 
counterproductive since you would just have to press it  together again.
