I couldn't tell you about the wal-mart stuff but I do know of one exception 
to "oil is oil".  I don't know if modern technology has fixed this but 
traditionally Pennsylvania oil was to be avoided. This included Quaker State 
and Pennzoil.  Pennsylvania oil reportedly had some sort of wax in it that 
resulted in a filmy buildup eventually that was supposed to be detrimental. 
I'm fairly certain that this is useless info but I thought I would throw in 
my 2c for fun.
