Sounds like a good time to put an ammeter in the circuit (even the $3.99 
DVMs at Harbor Freight have a 10A setting) and see what kind of current 
flow you are getting with key on and engine stopped. Pertronics *should* 
act like open points & current should be less than an amp. If more, 
something is shorted - can remove things until it goes away.

In aunchient times, capacitors were called condensors. Both often fail shorted.
