Makes sense is the "old style" GM. OTOH everyone seems to be pitching
"microns" with 400 being the goal. Since that is about .019" of HG I don't
think my gauges could measure that since is the difference between 29.90"
and 29.92" (at sea level). In contrast the Harbor Freight
#3952 "Venturi-type vacuum pump removes moisture from air conditioning
systems so you safely add refrigerant. Easy to operate, just connect an air
line and it pulls full vacuum within 2 minutes. Ideal for automotive air
conditioners, home air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, and more!"
can pull clear down to nearly 39,200 microns (28.3"hg)

I have never tried to measure my vacuum pump made from the a 1/4 hp
electric motor and the accessory pump from an Olds Diesel but it seems to
work. Didn't know about "400 microns" when I built it, just let it run for
about 20 minutes.
