Hokay, there are two basic sorts of Grant wheel. The "big hole" (e.g. 
Challenger series) that has a 3/4" hole in the center, three 1/4" holes 
around it and one kidney bean type slot for the horn wire. The "5 hole" 
(e.g, "Signature") has five 3/16" holes around a  2.8" diameter circle.

In general the "Big Hole" wheels have a 3"-4+" dish while "five hole" 
wheels have 1" with the rest made up with a "styling sleeve" that acts as a 
2" spacer plus an inch from the adapter.

The "Big Hole" wheels are designed to bolt directly to the hub adapter with 
three 1/4-28 screws and the nut & washer that goes on the steering 
column.The #4000 spacer can be used to add another 2" out. To space a "Big 
Hole" 1" you would need both a #4000 and a #4001 spacer since the 1" 4001 
does not come with the top plate necessary to attach a "Big Hole" wheel.

Now the "5 hole" wheels can use either the 1" (4001) or the 2" (4003) 
spacers directly (or a #4000 if you remove the top plate).

The 724 is a "5 hole" so can use either spacer to replace the "styling 
sleeve". In any case you will need a hub adapter, column cover, and horn 
kit. I know that the 64-66 standard 1/2" column kit  (hub adapter 10022) is 
available only  from Clarks. I do not know what size the column shaft is on 
a Telescopic Wheel but the 3162 is correct for the later 67-69 column - 
think it is 3/4".

Personally, I think the Corvair needs at least a 15" diameter wheel to see 
the instruments properly but that is a matter of taste. Any smaller and you 
will probably need a shorter turn signal lever. (Telescopic lever works 
well with a 15" wheel).
