Hello Garth-
I never actually met and shook hands with any President but was at least in the presence of
three. President Kennedy while he was campaigning in West Virginia in 1960, Richard Nixon
several years after he "left" office, and Bill Clinton, who visited here for a "town
meeting" after he became President. GW campaigned at the local fair grounds in 2004 but the
crowd was hand picked, invitation only, and I wasn't. Maybe it was my reputation as the
local Corvair guy?? Back in the 1970's when Gerald Ford was campaigning, I was working on my
airplane with the hangar doors open. Several of Ford's "people" were making the rounds at
the airport shaking hands etc. I had my 1966 Corsa parked outside and my 1956 Thunderbird
inside. They made a big fuss over the T-Bird but I guess the Corsa wasn't old enough to be
considered interesting. Ford got my vote anyway.
