It is a different color of money. Most companies have a separate 
"shuttfown" fund. Also the "fixed costs" (utilities, supplies, canteen) are 
greatly reduced. Further they obviously are not consuming any comsumables. 
When you are talking millions of dollars it all adds up.

Big companies know to a day when it makes sense to keep running and when to 
mothball.

Had a big disappointment in Anderson this summer - almost all of the 
Delco-Remy "acre" on the bypass had been bulldozed. Wonder where the 
alternators and starters are coming from these days. (in the 1970s there 
was a concern that if a disaster took out the acre, GM would shut down 
within a week).
