<VV> Brake Master Cylinder...

This sounds like a full brake system rebuild.
Maybe not, but the brake fluid went somewhere. Check under the carpet under
the steering column. This is where a master cylinder will leak. If no brake
fluid is seen, then it either leaked out one or more wheel cylinders, or a
rotten brake line. The master cylinder is probably in need of a rebuild or
replacement. Don't compromise on brakes; do it right.

Subject: <VV> Brake Master Cylinder...

  Hi:

What are the signs of a bad master cylinder? I was helping a friend who
has a 65 Convertible. The brake master cylinder was completely empty. The
car has been sitting in his garage for a couple of years. We filled it up
while pumping the brake pedal.

The pedal came up - but after 5 seconds it moves all the way down. There
are no signs of leakage from wheel cylinders and the master cylinder is
retaining all the brake fluid !

  Please help !

  Tony
