There is a chance that there is somehow a hot spot that is acting as a spark
plug ( diesel glow plug ) ... try this::: at the time you go to key off,
pump the accelerator pedal about 2 or 3 times, this will squirt in some
cooling wet stuff, and may put out the hot spot. This is kinda backwards to
what seems reasonable ... but if it works for you , will be a clue as to
the real problem.

I do agree that our gasoline the last couple of years has gotten weird, but
not sure it[s the alcohol ... I have run gas-0-hol ( 10% ethanol ) in Iowa
for 15 years and it hasn[t given the funny results of the last 2 or 3 years.
?????????????

I am beginning to think corvairs are like dogs ...if you don[t give them
enough attention, they wet on the floor or chew up the rug ....
