Lakewoods/SW backup lights have an unusual electrical
contact involved between the body and the liftgate
door--- my Lakewood now has the backup lights on the
door are converted to tail lights----the contact to
the "hot" lead is made when the door is closed and the
two brass contacts mate.

Tail lights and backup lights on early Corvairs often
have problems maintaining continuity to "ground"--- I
run an additional wire from each light unit body to a
very clean ground point---brighter lights and no
failures. I've also had better luck with an
additional ground wire to the instrument panel-and not
depending on the mounting screws for it's grounding
point.

My "NEW" Lakewood, christened "Radio Flyer", should be
completed THIS week--a window tint specialist is
coming from San Antonio today to do the windows--after
that, it's just install the carpet, steering wheel,
seats, and newly chromed bumpers---I installed the
headliner, door panels, air conditioner trim, and
painted over all the overspray on the floor panels
yesterday.

The wagon is candyapple red, with all red upholstery
- even the glove compartment door, steering wheel, and
all interior cardboard is covered to match the
upholstery -- hence, it's a little red wagon- my
granddaughter's wagon originated the "Radio Flyer"
name, and I have the correct decals for the car.

My cars have had unusual names- Chat Noir- (French for
Black Cat) -my '66 coupe, died in a car/tram accident
in Brussels (all nine lives), Jim Beam was not
involved--- Chat Noir II- my '67 Coupe-very black,
very low, very fast, and very loud- has been adopted
by another collector, raised back to stock heigth,
detuned, and it's name changed to something "girlie".

I have just informed the show representative for
Autorama-San Antonio that I'm switching my entry in
next month's show from my '64 coupe ("Casper") to the
"Radio Flyer".

If it was easy, everybody'd be greasy ----
