Hi Ryan,

It's not too hard. There is a hole but it needs to be enlarged. I
have some pictures of the install I did on my car. I copied the
install from Rick Norris. The pictures are at

the pictures, but if you have any questions let me know. Good luck.

At the SEMA show - I wander through the Audio section evey once in a while.
There are manufacturers building replacement kick panels - The place on late
models where the lower vents live - for lots of other GM cars. These have
built-in speaker mounting, usually for 5-6" round speakers. They are NOT
available for Corvairs, but while discussing this with one of the manufacturers,
they indicated that they might be willing to undertake the set-up, if people
were interested. On the Corvair, all coupes and sedans use one style (a left and
a right) and the Convertibles use another pair. The Convertible units will
fit the coupes/sedans but not the other way around. The Convertible need more
clearance around the floor because of additional welded braces in a hopeless
attempt to stop cowl shake. <grin> The converts also use a separate metal
mounting for the actual air vent, where, on the coupes, the vent is atached to
the panel.

Is there any interest in this? Although they do not look stock, close but
with the added speaker bulk, they would be removable with no after effects. No
cutting is necessary and the sound from that location is not bad, depending on
your choice of speakers. - Seth Emerson
