Drain the tank and pull the sending unit (best done with the "special" 
tool).  This is not going to take all that long to do and you can satisfy 
yourself as to whether or not the "sock" is plugged.  You can just take the 
rubber hose loose where it connects to the main line going to the rear in 
order to drain the tank - don't HE-HE use a vacuum cleaner to siphon. Have a 
big enough catch can on hand.

Even if this is not the answer, at least you will have eliminated this 
possibility.

Attachments (if any) are scanned with anti-virus software.
