Frank DuVal and others suggested I tried cleaning the points which I did and now all is well. The new points work just fine, they had apperantly gotten a layer of something on them during their 1 year storage in a ziploc bag. Who knew? Well Frank did I guess. Thanks VV, another problem solv-ed. mike
