I ran a #18 wire directly from the big connector near the firewall to the + 
terminal of the coil. Seems to be working fine and I have seen a peak of 
3.5 amps near 4,000 rpm (current increases with engine speed). If I were 
going to run over 5,000 rpm often I would add a relay with a direct fused 
connection to the battery.
