So I am not the only one. I finally figured out that the left bank was a 
little "weaker" at idle than the right - suspect valve guides - and finally 
came in a little on the left idle screw and out a little on the right. That 
and a Pertronix II/Flamethrower combo means it does not stall. Does 
sometimes drop from 650 rpm in Drive to 350 rpm but does not stall and a 
little gas brings it right back up.

Am just living with it now.
