I have done this successfully. If the housing isn't too deep, you can get under the inner tang with a screwdriver. They come out pretty easily. Of course, the index mark on the housing becomes meaningless when you flip the spring. If you are interested, I can send you the NAPA number that I've used to convert several AFBs. Craig N.
