Of course you can do that with a PG Corvair. I admit that one time I got  out 
of my PG sedan, opened the deck lid to check battery and starter wiring to  
try to figure out why the car wouldn't start. Once I realized that it's not  
supposed to start in drive everything was good. Now I check the shifter  first.
