Corvairs don't run or require a whole-bunch of oil pressure, the are 
regulated to 35 psi and idling below 10 with a hot engine is pretty much the norm.  
The first step is to install a manual gauge back on the engine and prove or 
disprove the electric gauge.  You might have a partially clogged suction screen, 
worn bearings, erratic pressure regulator, or a host of other problems.  But... 
Step-One is to confirm the pressure with a known-good mechanical gauge.
