Hey guys,
The best tool I ever used for removing that little "horse shoe" clip was a  
big red shop rag... slip the side of it under the handle and slide it one way 
or  the other, depending on how the clip is installed...
Piece of cake!
Never had one loctite-ed, but I DID have one where  a PO had drilled  and 
screwed each handle... luckily I was parting that one out...
