Hey Smitty,
You're getting too frantic. Stop and think.....If you use the harmonic  
damper to set the #2 piston to TDC ( via rotor position in the distr. ) , then  
that means #2 is ready to fire. (actually fired just before). 
 
That will place the cam gear timing mark up outa sight. You had to set the  
#1 to the top of the power stroke to be able to see the timing mark down  below.
