Please change the subject line when you hijack a thread.....People searching 
the Archives  need Correct  subjects, etc.

The   Yellow wire  , along with a large purple wire is in the 2 wire 
connector....on top of the engine...in the open.....these go to the Starter Solinoid!  
 The Yellow  is returning from the "I"  terminal to the coils' "+"  to give a 
full 12 volts when cranking

The only time you should have over 9 vdc  to the coil is when the engine 
isn't running and the distributor is in a certain position / condition [ points 
open].
