<VV> Flooding problem?

I would add to the carb advice;

Many people who haven't rebuilt carbs before make a very common error of
forgetting to adjust 'float drop'- this might have happened to you.

Float Drop is the distance the floats can drop from the carb top when they
dangle, holding the top in your hand right way up with the floats installed-
if it is too great a distance, they can occasionally jam up or cock the fuel
inlet needle and be unable to stop the fuel flow.

Once the correct float adjustment is set (the UP position-gasket installed)
turn the lid right way up and adjust the tab that is the stop for the floats
dropping, to permit the floats to dangle no more than 1/4" or so at the end
opposite the hinge pin.

You'll find setting the 'choke unloader' setting to half an inch is a big
improvement also- this is the amount the closed choke is forced open at full
throttle by the throttle arm tab striking the choke linkage to clear a
flooded engine. 1968 and 1969 Corvairs already have the updated
specification, 0.510".

Good luck!
