<VV> turn signal switch

If late 65 or 66, the switch is held onto the steering shaft with a
difficult to remove snap ring. Look closely at shaft and use very small
screwdrivers and ice picks to remove the snap ring.

need to replace switch with unbroken used assy out of parts car---have it 
disassembled down to switch still on shaft--do you gently pry forward to 
have it slide off shaft or is it held by something I cant see? Dont want to 
break it as these things are expensive. Would it be easier to just remove 
whole column and repaint to match and reinstall ?
